Getting Set Up

The following page outlines important technical requirements that are needed to take part in your virtual care. Remember you need the following items to take part in your virtual visit:

  • A valid Newfoundland and Labrador MCP card.
  • A personal email address.
  • Access to a device such as a personal computer, tablet, or mobile phone that has a camera and speaker.
  • A secure Internet or Wi-Fi connection.

There are a number of programs your health care provider may use to offer virtual care. Directions for how to get set up using these programs is provided below.

Getting Set Up – Telehealth

If your health care provider is providing virtual care through the Telehealth Program, please note the following technical requirements.

1. Make sure you have a supported device

  • Supported devices include desktop and laptop computers, Android tablets, iPads, Android smart phones and Apple iPhones (version 7 and up).
  • Device has a camera

2. Check your Browser

3. Complete the Device Check

If you have discussed a virtual care appointment with your health care provider, you are required to test the compatibility of your internet connection with the device you plan to use (i.e. computer, cell phone, tablet, etc.).

If your health care provider is providing virtual care through the TELUS EMR Virtual Visit Solution or the TELUS EMR Health Myself Solution, please note the following technical requirements.

1. Make sure you have a supported device

  • Supported devices include desktop and laptop computers (Mac OS X 10.12 and later or Windows 7 or Windows 10), Android tablets Android 9 and later, Apple iPads (iOS 11 and later), Android smart phones Android 9 and later and Apple iPhones iOS 11 and later.
  • Device has a camera.

2. Check your Browser

Supported browsers include:

  • Apple products – latest version of Safari.
  • Android devices – latest version of Chrome.
  • Chrome OS – latest version of Chrome.
  • Mac OS X 10.12 and later – latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
  • Windows 7 or Windows 10 – latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or the new Edge.

Note: Internet Explorer is not supported.
